Cabochon Garnet Eternity Earrings

I always thought that the Garnet stone came only in the colour red but there are many different kinds of garnet. And colour varies depending on the variety. ALMANDINE is reddish orange to red, slightly purplish red to reddish purple and usually dark in tone; ANDRADITE is yellow, greenish yellow to emerald-green, dark green; brown, brownish red, brownish yellow; grayish black, black; may be sectored; MELANITE is a variety of Andradite. It is black in color, referred to as "titanian andradite" GROSSULARITE is light to dark green, light to dark yellow to reddish brown, occasionally translucent to opaque pink. It is also but rarely found in colourless form; HESSONITE is a variety of Grossularite and has a characteristic red color, inclining to orange or yellow; PYROPE is red. Some varieties are very dark, almost black, while others can take tones of purple. Some chromium-rich pyropes are thermochromic, becoming green when heated; RHODOLITE is light to dark purplish red through reddish purple; SPESSARTITE is yellow through red, and UVAROVITE is green, emerald-green, green-black Hope you enjoyed your Garnet Color 101. Happy Tuesday, Tata friends!
